1. Our Commitment to Equal Housing Opportunity

At The Ashford Group, we are fully committed to providing equal housing opportunities to all individuals. We conduct all real estate brokerage activities in strict compliance with federal, state, and local fair housing laws.
We believe that every person has the right to live where they choose, and we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind in the sale, rental, or financing of housing.

2. Federal Fair Housing Act Compliance

Under the Federal Fair Housing Act (Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended), it is illegal to discriminate in housing based on:

  • Race

  • Color

  • Religion

  • Sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity)

  • Disability

  • Familial status (including presence of children under 18 and pregnancy)

  • National origin

The Ashford Group strictly prohibits any practices that violate the Fair Housing Act and takes all necessary measures to ensure compliance.

3. New York State Human Rights Law

In addition to federal protections, the New York State Human Rights Law prohibits housing discrimination based on:

  • Age

  • Creed

  • Marital status

  • Military status

  • Lawful source of income (including housing vouchers and public assistance)

  • Sexual orientation

  • Gender identity or expression

  • Domestic violence victim status

Our firm complies fully with all state fair housing laws and supports equal access to housing opportunities for all New Yorkers.

4. New York City Human Rights Law

For properties located within New York City, we also adhere to the New York City Human Rights Law, which expands fair housing protections to include:

  • Citizenship status

  • Partnership status

  • Immigration status

  • Any lawful occupation

We ensure that all advertising, listings, and client interactions reflect the inclusive and nondiscriminatory standards required by New York City law.

5. Prohibited Practices

The Ashford Group prohibits and will not tolerate any of the following actions by our brokers, agents, employees, or representatives:

  • Refusing to rent, sell, or negotiate housing based on a protected characteristic

  • Making housing unavailable or falsely denying that housing is available

  • Setting different terms, conditions, or privileges for sale or rental

  • Using discriminatory statements, advertisements, or images

  • Steering clients toward or away from neighborhoods based on protected traits

  • Failing to provide reasonable accommodations or modifications for individuals with disabilities

We maintain internal policies, training, and monitoring to ensure all staff adhere strictly to these rules.

6. Accessibility and Reasonable Accommodation

We are committed to making reasonable accommodations in rules, policies, practices, and services when necessary to provide equal opportunity to persons with disabilities.
We also ensure that new multifamily housing meets accessibility design and construction standards, as required by law.

7. Fair Housing Notice

Pursuant to New York State Department of State regulations (19 NYCRR § 175.28), The Ashford Group provides the official Fair Housing Notice to all clients and prominently displays it in our office and on our website.
